Children with disabilities are often overlooked in DRR initiatives making them particularly at-risk when facing natural and other hazards. Vulnerabilities are exacerbated for school-going children, as often disasters occur when children are in schools.
Comprehensive School Safety Framework (CSSF) aims to reduce the risks of hazards to the education sector. To ensure safety of all children, including girls and boys with disabilities, and continuity of education in emergencies, inclusion considerations should be mainstreamed across all three pillars of the CSSF, namely, safe learning facilities, school disaster management, and risk reduction and resilience education.
